The photos track an ubiquitous element on city facades in South Europe. Although this decorative ventilation grid is common in many countries around the world, I was charmed by its high density in Italy. The grid functions as cover for air ducts, but in contemporary chaotic streetlife it stands as a weird floral symbol out of context, a design attemp of domestic beauty covered by coats of paint, just a few inches above human flow.
